Gods Family

David McPherson

Most everyone is thankful for the love and support that is shared within a physical family. Great relationships are had with many of our kin. The Christian, however, is not limited to the blessings of a physical family. When Peter mentioned the sacrifices of discipleship, Jesus explained to him, "...there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel's, who shall not receive a hundred fold now in this time; houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children..." (Mk. 10:29-30). Jesus shows the full reward that is given to all who will put Him first. A reward filled with spiritual blessings including a great spiritual family.

Elsewhere, Jesus pointed out that “whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother" (Mt. 12:50). By obeying God we become “Part of the family that's been born again. Part of the family whose love knows no end. For Jesus has saved us, and made us his own. Now we're part of the family that's on its way home" (song: God's Family).
